Med-Surg / Med-Tele
General hospital visiting hours will be 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for people ages 13 and over. Visiting hours are to be closely observed in the hospital. It is the responsibility of all hospital personnel to enforce visiting hours. Visitors are asked to not smoke on campus. Visitors and personnel may not sit on unoccupied beds in the patient rooms. Visitors who may be noisy or who conduct themselves in a disorderly manner will be asked to leave. Visitors may be restricted out of medical necessity at various times.
ICU
Visiting hours are the same as general hospital visitation and may be regulated as the condition of the patient indicates.
Visitors are limited to two (2) per patient at a time in ICU.
Large families are encouraged to designate one or two contact person(s). This person would then receive all status updates. One visitor may stay at night, as appropriate, with charge nurse approval.
The charge nurse may use his/her discretion to restrict visiting due to patient procedures, emergency situations, patient status or patient request, etc.
Infectious diseases can delay a patient’s recovery. Active surveillance by the nursing staff is required to ensure visitors are free from obvious signs of contagion such as coughing, common cold symptoms or open wounds.
Moms are allowed three (3) visitors (ages 18 and over) in labor and delivery. Once mom is transferred to postpartum, three (3) visitors are allowed until 7:30 p.m. Baby’s siblings are also allowed in postpartum. Mom's significant other (only one) may remain with mom throughout the night. Those planning on attending the delivery should have been prepared in childbirth classes, but this is not mandatory.
The physician has the right to ask persons to leave if any non-support to the mother or compromise to the health of mother or baby is indicated or visitor becomes disruptive to the coping abilities of the patient.
Each family member is encouraged to use good hand washing technique before handling the new baby.
Parents (or mother and one other security-banded adult) may visit at care times (given to the parent by the NICU staff) for one hour with the exception of 6:30 – 7:30 (morning and evening) when nurses are performing shift change.
Emergency Department/Same Day Surgery
One visitor (ages 18 and older) will be allowed with each patient.
During emergent situations/activities, visitors will remain in the waiting room.
Patient/family will be asked to identify one contact person who will receive all information. This contact person will relay information to the rest of the family or support system.
Pre-op Holding Rooms/Cath Lab
Two visitors (ages 18 and older) may be present.
In order to assure patient privacy and prompt delivery of care, visitors may be asked to wait in the waiting room.
Exceptions to Listed Policy
- Visitors may be restricted by expressed request of the patient or by the physician when visiting may interfere with patient care of unit activities.
- Physician’s orders.
- Per CDC guidelines, patients in isolation will be allowed 1 visitor who is acting as a care partner. Those visitors will be required to follow facility PPE guidelines when visiting a patient who is in isolation.
- Visitation policy will be modified if family/visitors are exhibiting signs/symptoms of communicable disease or have known exposure.
The hospital reserves the right to restrict visitors when it infringes upon the rights or privacy of other patients, including but not limited to emergent situations, sterile procedures and when visitors would prevent treatments or needs of the patient they are visiting.
The hospital may also restrict visitation when visitors display disruptive or abusive behavior toward patients or staff.
