Woodland Heights Medical Center Employees Donate Wedding Dresses to Angel Gown Program

Lufkin Texas — Several Woodland Heights employees recently donated their wedding dresses to the Angel Gown Program, which provides gowns free of charge to any hospital or family requesting a bereavement gown for their babies.
NICU Helping Hands’ Angel Gown Program began in 2013, as they recognized there was a need for better support for families who had lost a baby. The program provides comfort for bereaved families through the gift of a custom made gown for final photos and for burial services. The program is possible because of the many donations of wedding dresses to reconstruct into these gowns by wonderful volunteers who have often experienced the loss of their own children or of another loved one.
This is such a special gift to be able to give to a grieving family and affirming the importance of the life of their child.
Labor & delivery nurse Kaydee Waggoner stated, “The Angel Gown program is such a wonderful thing for families that have lost their little ones. I, myself, have been able to present these gowns to families during their tragic times and they are so grateful for this small, but thoughtful gesture.” L&D nurse Shea Whitehead adds, “These gowns have been such a blessing to our grieving families in their time of sorrow.”
“We are honored to be able to donate these wedding gowns to the Angel Gown Program,” states Carla Turner, director of women’s services. “As we grieve with our bereaved families, we are blessed to be able to gift the beautiful gowns to them.”
