Woodland Heights Medical Center Adopts The Breast Pump Depot Program
5/8/2023
Lufkin Texas – Woodland Heights Medical Center announced a new partnership with The Breast Pump Depot. The partnership will provide new moms with a personal-use, high quality electric breast pump prior to hospital discharge. The breast pumps are covered under most insurance and Medicaid programs, which results in no out-of-pocket cost to the new mother.
Approximately 95% of women who choose to breast feed also use breast pumps to build and maintain their milk supply. Breast pumps are an essential tool to maintain lactation during periods of separation such as during an unexpected illness or NICU stay. Breast milk helps keep a baby healthy by reducing the risk of allergies, diseases and infections. Babies also tend to have healthier weights as they grow and to score higher on IQ tests.
Lacey Wall, R.N., certified lactation counselor, will lead the program at Woodland Heights. “As the first hospital in the area to offer this program, we are honored to assist our new mothers with their breastfeeding journey,” states Wall. “The expense of breast pumps can be an obstacle and giving moms the tools from the start will set them up for breastfeeding success.”
Woodland Heights Medical Center and The Breast Pump Depot are committed to protecting and nurturing the connections between moms and babies.
