Woodland Heights Medical Center Offers New Catheter for Cardiac Care
9/11/2023
Lufkin, TX – Woodland Heights Medical Center announced it is the first facility in Lufkin to utilize a new electrophysiology catheter for cardiac ablation.
Cardiac ablation is a procedure that scars tissue in your heart to block electrical signals. It is utilized in treating cardiac arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter.
The new catheter offers cardiologists the ability to ablate efficiently with predictability and confidence. It is the first and only contact force catheter with a flexible tip which allows for enhanced stability, directed tissue flow to allow for safe lesion formation and reduced fluid load.
Dr. Vivek Mangla, electrophysiology/interventional cardiologist, was the first physician in Lufkin to utilize the new catheter. “We are excited to bring this new technology to Lufkin as it will aid in better and safer outcomes,” states Dr. Mangla. “We were also able to complete the case without the use of fluoroscopy, which eliminates radiation exposure to both the patient and operating team.”
