J. Telford
Shelia Telford joined The Advanced Financial Group in 1990, after
serving as Vice-President of Marketing with the predecessor banks of
the current Bank of America in Lufkin. Today Shelia and her husband
Robert own The Advanced Financial Group, which is located in Lufkin.
Mrs. Telford, who originally is from Houston, graduated from Baylor
University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Continued educational
pursuits include the School of Bank Marketing at University of
Colorado - Boulder, and achievement of the Life Underwriters
Training Council Fellowship (LUTCF), representing extensive study in
varied aspects of life and health insurance. She has taught in both
public and private schools, which she considers an invaluable
experience in preparing for the business world.
Mrs. Telford is a 1984 Leadership Lufkin graduate, and was honored
by that organization with the Jack O. McMullen Silver Spike Award
for Distinguished Community Service in 1992. Mrs. Telford served as
the President and the Campaign Chairperson of the United Way of
Angelina County. She has been a member of the Better Business Bureau
of Brazos Valley and Deep East Texas Board of Directors, Consumer
Credit Counseling Service of the Gulf Coast Board of Directors, and
Lufkin’s First Baptist Church Board of Trustees. She currently is
treasurer of the Lufkin Adult Learning Center Advisory Board.
Professional affiliation includes charter membership in the
Association of Health Insurance Agents and serving on the board of
Pineywoods Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
