Deason
WHMC Board Member
Joe Deason serves as the
Personnel Recruiter for the Lufkin Independent School
District. Most recently he held the position of principal at
the district's Middle School. Mr. Deason began his career
with the school system in 1982. Throughout his tenure, he
not only served as a principal, but also as a teacher and an
assistant principal.
Mr. Deason is an honors
graduate from Prairie View A&M University where he received
his Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education and a
minor in history. In 1972, Mr. Deason earned his Master’s
Degree from Prairie View A&M University in guidance and
counseling. He then earned his mid-management certification
from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1985.
He began his career in
academics in 1968 at Cy-Fair Independent School District
where he served as a teacher, football and basketball coach,
and counselor. Mr. Deason also is a veteran of the armed
forces, serving in the United States Army as a tank platoon
leader in South Vietnam.
